Legend claims that Balachadi was the ancient Dwaraka, ruled by Lord Krishna. Balachadi also enjoyed the privilege of being the Summer resort of the local elite for quite a long time. Quite befittingly Balachadi unfolded her cosy wings to house the uprooted polish children during the Nazi outrage of Poland in the Second World War.

The survivors of this outrage visited Balachadi which gave asylum to them at a tender age. They expressed their gratitude and to commemorate this event they installed a plaque in front of school Building.〔http://www.ssbalachadi.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=51&Itemid=73〕
