Sainik school Balachadi is one of 20 Sainik Schools in India located in Gujarat. It is an English medium, residential school for boys providing public school education with a military bias up to 10+2 stage as per the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school of Gujarat was started in 1961 at Jamnagar. It was established in the two blocks of Irwin hospital. To provide better facilities, the institution was shifted to its present location at Balachadi. Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India, presented the school its colours on 7 March 1965. ==History== Sainik School of Gujarat was established in the year 1961 in Jamnagar. The School is located in the Balachadi Estate which is 32 km away from Jamnagar. The Balachadi Estate was formerly a sea side summer resort that belonged to the rulers of Nawanagar. The estate comprises 426 acres of land in the mangrove rich coastal belt of Saurashtra. The survivors of this outrage visited Balachadi which gave asylum to them at a tender age.
